Extensive Mahogany Cabinetry & Vintage-Style Kitchen with Tin Ceiling
This is a classic Cape Cod beach house, one of several century-old, Shingle-style homes on quiet street running along Vineyard Sound. It was purchased by a family with young children who wanted to maintain its historic bones, but wanted to update the home and create something which was more casual and livable. In an extensive custom remodel, C.J. Riley Builder created multiple half-stairways which join the various living spaces. A varied roofline, with multiple dormers, keeps the home from appearing overly large both inside and out. A variety of custom-crafted mahogany elements – cabinetry in the corridors, fishing tackle room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom, and ceiling detail throughout – give the interior a yacht-like vibe. The kitchen has a retro feel with a pressed tin ceiling and a custom-made “diner booth” for quick family meals. An adjacent space used an office and kids’ crafting area features an arched ceiling finished with marble subway tile.
